Philanthropy

Tri Deltas are passionate about serving others.

We remain dedicated to three aspects of philanthropy: sisters helping sisters through Tri Delta’s Foundation, our commitment to changing the way the world treats and defeats childhood cancer through our work with local and regional children’s hospitals and pediatric cancer initiatives and through our national partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Philanthropy

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital treats children without regard to race, religion, creed or ability to pay. It is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never receive a hospital bill. We consider ourselves so lucky be partnered with such an organization and honored to take part in their mission. In the fall we host Delta House of Pancakes (DHOP), we like to think of it as a huge Tri Delta tailgate. Sooner nation and many of our alumni come to the house to enjoy a pancake buffet on the morning of a big football game! This event is all about team spirit, being together, and fundraising for St. Jude. Also in the fall, we hold our annual letter-writing campaign, “Sincerely Yours.” For this event, each member of our chapter writes 50 letters to their family, friends, former teachers, and fellow students mentioning why we support St. Jude and asking for donations to aid in their fight against childhood cancer. Sincerely yours is more behind the scenes and something only held within the chapter, however it is the most impactful fundraiser of the year as we receive bids from businesses and families across the nation. In the Spring, we hold a 24-Hour Social Media Push, where members of Tri Delta post on social media accounts asking for donations, and challenge ourselves to see how much money we can raise for St. Jude in just 24 hours. During last year's push, we were able to raise over $45,000! Theta Gamma was the first Tri Delta chapter to put on a 24-hour social media push day like this and, due to its resounding success, it is now an event chapters across the nation host in their own campuses. For our final fundraising event of the year, we partner with the men of Sigma Phi Epsilon to host Coffee House - this event typically the fan favorite among members. We set up an outdoor stage in our backyard, string up some ambient lighting, and serve delicious desserts and pastries. Tri Delta members and students from all across campus are able to perform songs or do karaoke, which makes for a fun. musical night for all in attendance. We have an endless supply of coffee and sweets available, and it’s a fun way to bring together the OU community for a great philanthropy. As Tri Deltas, we are incredibly passionate about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the work we do to contribute to their life-saving work. In addition to supporting our campus and national philanthropies, we also love contributing to our local philanthropy at the annual Art with a Heart, which showcases art from the patients of the OU Children’s Hospital in a gallery-like setting. Art with a Heart is ran by Oklahoma City Alumni, and in the lead up to to, members of Tri Delta go to the hospital for Art Creation Days where they get to spend time with the patients and help them create their masterpieces. We are overjoyed to say that last year our chapter raised $121,131.25, and we hope to top that in the next!
